It is most efficient for you to fill out the prospect questionnaire in advance and meet with us online afterward. In most cases, we won't be able to respond to your emails because we don't know the specific details about your situation.

Can You Keep My Information Confidential?

Your information is kept confidential. It is recommended that you do not include specific issues in our form. Our way of handling your very confidential information would be through an online meeting or client portal. Emails containing specific tax information about your situation are not welcome.

Can You Prepare Tax Returns?

Our company does not prepare tax forms since we are not a tax return preparer. We help you prepare the form in conjunction with your CPAs or tax accountants. Nevertheless, we focus on tax advisory, not tax preparation.

Can You Help My Non-US Tax Issues?

In our current staff, there are no foreign-licensed CPAs or attorneys.  We only have a CPA and attorney licensed to perform US tax work. When dealing with non-US issues, it is strongly recommended that you work with a licensed professional in that country. 

CHI Border has relationships with foreign tax accountants and attorneys. Consequently, we can make it easier for you to find such a professional upon request.

How Long is Our Agreement Good?

After signing the engagement letter, our agreement is valid for one year. The contract expires once this period (one year)  has passed. Before your contract expires, we will ask if you wish to renew it.

About Payment for Our Services 

How Much Does Your Service Cost?

There are two types of fee structures we offer: fixed and hourly. Each project is charged a fixed fee starting at $100. Prices vary depending on the type. Before we start the project, we require an upfront payment of at least 50%. Hourly charges are based on our standard billing rate and actual time spent. Depending on the complexity of the project and its duration, the fee will change. When we present you with our quote, we strive to provide you with our estimate. Since we communicate with you via the Internet, our out-of-pocket expenses are usually minimal.

Can I Use Credit Card to Make a Payment?

Your payment options include credit card, ACH (domestic bank-to-bank transfer), debit card, international wire transfer, or digital wallet (Apple Pay or Google Pay).

May I Withdraw My Project in the Middle?

If you would like to suspect your project or cancel it, please contact us. The project will be terminated and any remaining balance will be billed to you. The retained amount will be used to cover costs incurred.

What if I have Follow-up Questions after You Complete the Project?

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. For security reasons, you should communicate with us via your portal. We will charge you according to the standard billing rate presented to you when you signed the engagement letter if we have to spend time answering your questions.
