Koh is the CEO of CHI Border, a firm that provides tax advice/solutions to cross-border families and individuals. With over 30 years of experience in accounting, law, and management consulting, he holds an MBA, a JD, a CPA*, and a Harvard Business Analytics Certificate. A fluent Japanese, English, and Chinese speaker (conversational), he is passionate about helping others succeed globally. *Please note he let his CPA license expired in 2024.
When he was 25, he was diagnosed with cancer in Tokyo, just a few months before traveling to the US to complete his MBA at Michigan State University. Two surgeries were performed in a large hospital in Tokyo. Due to concerns about his health, he was hesitant to travel to the United States. A passive and timid attitude developed in him. As a result, he developed a pessimistic outlook.
Koh's late father played a significant role in reshaping his character and guiding him through life's challenges. His father's words of encouragement, urging Koh to be brave and continue pursuing his dreams, left a lasting impact. Despite the initial nervousness and fear that accompanied his move to the US, Koh's cancer did not recur. His father's wisdom instilled in him a valuable life lesson: To maintain an optimistic outlook and pursue one's dream, no matter the circumstances.
Throughout his career, Koh has achieved significant milestones and garnered recognition for his contributions to the field. He started his career as a CPA in the assurance field. He founded CDH's (an accounting firm in Chicago and other cities) international practice and served as a principal of CDH (2000-2013, 2019-2023) and as its President and Managing Principal (2014-2019). In 2019, he established CDH's cross-border individual practice, and in 2024, he founded CHI Border. His dedication to professional growth is evident in his completion of an executive training course on leading professional service firms at Harvard Business School. In 2020, Crain acknowledged his achievements by recognizing him among the most notable minorities in accounting, law, and consulting. Koh's commitment to sharing his cross-border tax insights and expertise with professionals worldwide on LinkedIn is a testament to his mission to help others achieve success and go global.

He is a licensed attorney in Illinois and currently enrolled in the Tax LLM of prestigious Northwestern University's Pritzker Law School to update his tax knowledge.
