What we believe

As technology advances, the world is getting smaller. Cross-border transactions are becoming more common every day. However, each country has its own tax system. For busy, border-crossing individuals and their families, understanding the international aspects of tax rules is very challenging. The CHI Border team believes in helping them by focusing on the global aspects of U.S. tax rules.

 Our Mission/Vision

Our vision/mission is to create the most rewarding working environment for all team members, advance globalization and world peace, and be the best international tax planning firm for Cross-Border individuals and their families

Koh is the CEO and founder of CHI Border, a firm that provides tax advisory and compliance solutions for cross-border individuals and families. With more than 30 years of experience in accounting, law, and management consulting, he holds an MBA, a JD, a Harvard Business Analytics Certificate, and formerly held a CPA license, which expired in 2024. He is also a licensed attorney in Illinois and is currently pursuing a Tax LL.M. at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. Fluent in Japanese and English, and conversational in Chinese, Koh is dedicated to helping individuals and businesses navigate global opportunities and cross-border tax challenges.

Koh's perspective on life and leadership was shaped by a personal challenge early in his career. At age 25, he was diagnosed with cancer in Tokyo shortly before moving to the United States to pursue his MBA at Michigan State University. After undergoing two surgeries, he faced uncertainty and fear about his future. Encouraged by his late father to remain courageous and pursue his dreams, Koh moved forward despite his concerns. His cancer never returned, and the experience taught him the value of resilience, optimism, and perseverance. Throughout his career, he has built and led successful international tax practices, founded CDH's international and cross-border individual practices, and launched CHI Border in 2024. In 2020, Crain's Chicago Business recognized him as one of the most notable minorities in accounting, law, and consulting.
